Philosophy
The Philosophy of Dog’s Best Friend & The Cat’s Meow is that a clean and well groomed pet is a happy and healthy pet. Because we have an intimate relationship with each and every pet we can help you check for any sign of change in your pet’s health. Pets that come in on a regular basis will find this a pleasant procedure. You show your pet that you care by tending to their overall health and hygiene. You save money in the long run with good health and the best looking pet on the block!
Dog grooming is an occupation which requires no licensure or formal training, however all of our staff members have chosen to become Certified Animal Hygienists (CAH) and all of our groomers are Certified Master Groomers (CMG). We regularly attend seminars on animal health and behavior as well as dog shows, grooming seminars and contests. We strive for a balance between artistic vision and practicality.
Pricing
Our prices are based on an hourly rate. As each pet requires a different amount of time prices will vary. Estimates are available at the time you arrive, prior to grooming.
Interested in learning about grooming? A variety of classes are available. These include classes in home grooming and pet care, private grooming lessons. Please inquire as to price for all of these classes. Classes are by appointment only.
Self Service Pet Wash
Our Self Service Pet Wash is available six days a week. For the low price of $14.95 you can wash and dry your dog or cat in our convenient, comfortable tubs. Price is based on a half hour and includes the use of towels, driers and shampoo. Additional time is $5.00 per 15 minutes. Bathing your pet in a safe, clean and efficient setting makes this task much easier. Ask for a brochure on the Pet Wash for hours and rules.

All pets are shampooed with quality products and conditioners. Hypo-allergenic and environmentally friendly products are used. Medicated and flea shampoos available when necessary. In the best interest of your pet, your groomer and the environment we do not use toxic flea dips. We are happy to discuss with you our theory of flea control.
Owner
Nancy Kallenbach-Han established Dog’s Best Friend in 1982. She is a graduate of Midwest School of Dog Grooming in Chicago, IL; a Certified Master Groomer (NCMG) and certifier for National Dog Groomers Association of America ; and a Companion Animal Hygienist (CAH) by Western World Pet Supply Association.
Nancy has won multiple grooming contest placements and was the Oster Invitational World Champion of 1994. Winner of the Laube Terrier Tournament Championship in 1995.
Nancy also shows and breeds Kerry Blue Terriers, Airedales and Bedlington Terriers with her husband, Sang Bong Han, DVM who practices veterinary medicine nearby in Richmond, CA.
